Through these gatherings, MODL positions itself as the go-to convener for critical discussions about how our democracy functions and how we can strengthen and improve it against efforts to undermine its integrity.
- MODL’s first convening was an event at the ASU California Center in September 2024 that featured elections officials from across the southwest and was attended by a large crowd including reporters from the L.A. Times, Washington Post, CNN and the New York Times.
- March 25, 2025, MODL partnered with the Center for Election Innovation and Research to convene elections officials and experts from around the Western U.S. for a discussion of the future of elections. The convening had several components including a PBS program that was recorded with Arizona elections officials. Additionally, there was a panel that evening of chief elections officials from Idaho, Arizona, SNF Agora and New Mexico, as well as a top elections official from Utah.
- May 12-13, 2025, MODL hosted a convening of conservative leaders in partnership with R Street Institute and SNP Agora Institute at John Hopkins University to discuss the future of elections in Arizona and Nevada. The convening included current and former elections officials (both elected and appointed), thought leaders, consultants, lobbyists and academics.
